The Area

NorthShore GuestHouse, in business since 2004,  is located less than one mile from the Marion Reservoir and is in the Flint Hills region of Kansas surrounded by Wildlife and Parks property with over 6,000 acres for public use. Hunting, fishing, water sports, bird watching, hiking, and bicycling are some of the activities you can enjoy in our area. Come on out and enjoy the quiet country landscape on the deck or around the fire ring in the back acreage.

The third Saturday in September is time for the famous Hillsboro Arts and Crafts Fair  and Marion's Art in the Park. The only place in America where the historic Santa Fe Trail and the Chisholm Trail cross and is in Marion County! Be sure not to miss Chingawassa Days every first weekend of June in Marion and Old Settler's Day the last weekend in September. There is also a rich Mennonite heritage in Marion County. Hillsboro, the home of Tabor College, is called 'Little Jerusalem' by the Mennonites.

"Your Country Home Away from Home"

Located less than one mile from the Marion Reservoir, NorthShore GuestHouse provides lodging to only one party at a time, with your friendly hosts next door. Since NorthShore is barely visible from the host house, guest privacy is assured.

NorthShore GuestHouse is a 1400 square foot, three bedroom bungalow with a deck overlooking the park lands. There is one king bed in one room, one queen in another and two single beds in the third accommodating six people comfortably. The residence had central heat and air, a TV and DVD player. There is a bright dining room with comfortable seating for six, a fully equipped kitchen, living room, one and one half baths, and a utility room furnished with a washer and dryer.

The kitchen, which has a sunny eastern exposure is equipped with a  stove, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, coffee and tea, glasses, dish ware, and cooking utensils. An electric hook up for one RV is available which is rented only in conjunction with the house. An outside dog kennel and shelter is provided. Campfires are allowed in the fire ring located in the backyard. A large charcoal grill and lawn chairs are available for your use.

There is nothing as refreshing and rejuvenating as an escape into the quietness of nature. Our area has an abundance of wildlife, including whitetail deer, Canadian geese, Mallard ducks, wild turkey, ring neck pheasant, bobwhite quail, and beaver. The nights are dark enough to see myraids of stars and the milky way. If you enjoy wandering through the wildlife and parks lands we would be glad to direct you to some prime areas to go hiking. Winter is the best time for hiking around here so bundle up and let’s go!
